Federal government alerts Nigerians of fake anti-malaria drug in circulation
Nigerian Government warns public of fake drug
The Federal Government has alerted Nigerians of two confirmed falsified versions of Quinine Sulphate in circulation. Quinine sulphate is used in the treatment of Malaria. A statement signed by the Director, Media and Public Relations of the Ministry of Health, Boade Akinola, states that the two falsified drugs contain zero active pharmaceutical ingredients. The statement added that the drugs are majorly being circulated in West and Central Africa, particularly in Cameroon and Democratic Republic of Congo.Akinola said one of the fake products was named Quinine Sulfate 300 mg with 1000 Tablets per container, Batch Number 10H05, expiry date 09/2018 and its date of manufacture is 09/2014. She stated that the drug manufactured by Novadina Pharmaceutical Limited, London, United Kingdom was first was discovered in Cameroon.
The other version of the fake drug was Quinine Sulphate 300mg with 100 Tablets per container; batch F4387, expiry date 11/18 and its date of manufacture is 12/14. She explained that the product was manufactured in India by CAD Pharm, and it was discovered in Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Akinola advised Nigerians to be vigilant and report to the nearest National Agency for Food and Drug Administration office anywhere the drugs were spotted including hospitals and pharmaceutical shops.
The ministry advised Nigerians to also report if they come ac the following GSM no +234-8037881120, +234-8055056727 and +234-8035902679. “If you are in possession of these products, please do not use them.
“If you have taken this falsified product or if you suffer an adverse effect following its uptake, please seek immediate advice from a qualified healthcare professional and report the incident to NAFDAC.’’

Man Sentenced To 5 Month Jail For Stealing Cock In Abuja
Sunday Ogboji, 25 has been sentenced to 5 month in prison on Thursday in Abuja for stealing cock worth N4000.
He was arraigned to Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, where he confessed that he hasn’t eaten chicken meat for a long time, hence the devil pushed him into the heinous crime.
The Judge, Alhaji Mohammed Ado, however, gave Ogboji, a technician, an option of N6, 000 fine for the two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft and warned him to desist from crimes.
Ado also ordered the convict, who resides at Kado Village, Abuja, to pay N4, 000 as restitution to the nominal complainant.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Augustine Urom, told the court that Insp. Simon Aliyu of same address with the convict reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, Abuja, on Aug. 14.
Urom said the complainant reported that on Aug. 8, he saw the convict stealing one of his birds valued at N4, 000.
The prosecutor said that when Ogboji was arrested and interrogated by the police, he admitted stealing the cock and eating it.
Urom said that the offences committed contravened Sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The convict pleaded guilty to the offenses and prayed the court to temper justice with mercy.
Ogboji said that he did not know what possessed him to steal the cock although he had not eaten meat for a long time.
He promised to be of good behaviour in future.

Escaped Chibok Girl Still In Love With Bokoharam Husband
Amina told BBC that while she was held hostage by boko haram for 2 years she was married off a year into her ordeal and later had a baby girl, Safiya.
The couple and their daughter escaped and were later found on the outskirts of Nigeria’s Sambisa Forest in May.
Her husband, identified as Mohammed Hayatu at the time of their escape, told a witness that he too had been kidnapped by Boko Haram.
He was placed in military detention for interrogation by Nigeria’s joint intelligence center.
Amina Ali says she has no idea where he is now and is keen to be reunited with him.
She said:
“I’m not comfortable with the way I’m being kept from him.” Addressing the father of her child, she says: “I want you to know that I’m still thinking about you, and just because we are separated doesn’t mean I have forgotten about you.”

Police Breaks Traffic Rule, 5 Injured In Accident
5 people were seriously injured on Monday in an accident that occurred when a police bullion van driver broke traffic regulation in Abuja.
According to NAN ,a male eyewitness said that at the accident occurred when the driver of the police bullion van, “roforce” number NPF 2647D, Agada Daniel of the police FCT commands, allegedly drove against the traffic.
“The driver of the bullion van impatiently decided to take one way at a high speed,
it rammed into an Abuja painted taxi marked Kaduna, DKA 601XA and collided with another oncoming vehicle another painted taxi driver thereafter, he said.
It was reported among the injured 5 four were staff of the Halogen security company in Area 3, FCT.
According to him, driving against the traffic has become norms for the police and the military, mostly on Maraba axis.
“It is so unfortunate that the law makers are the law breakers in this Country," he said.
NEMA team on rescue mission couldn not answer question as were so busy evacuating the injured passengers. All efforts by NAN to reach the force PRO proved abortive.

Weird! Nigerian Witch Craft Association Speaks Out, Laments Persecution
The Publicity Secretary, Dr Okhue Iboi of the Witches and Wizards Association of Nigeria (WITCAN) in Edo State is crying out that its members are seriously being persecuted.
The group has admonished Edo state governor , Oshiomole to ensure peace and unity in the upcoming election. They said in statement:
"Members of our association are apolitical. We are not partisan. Our own concern as stakeholders in the project called Nigeria is for peace and unity to reign. Our own witches group are not evil. We do good, and promote whatever will bring progress to mankind."
"We love Nigeria. We were holding our monthly meeting at Irrua, and, suddenly, while looking at our crystal ball in the coven, we saw some things that were frightening concerning Edo and thereafter I was mandated as the spokesperson of the group to deliver this message to the governor, and other stakeholders that have one thing or the other to do with the governorship election in Edo State."
" But we are making a special appeal to Governor Oshiomhole because he is the Chief Security Officer of the state. He should liaise with the police, INEC and other stakeholders to ensure that peace is maintained before, during and after the elections."
Witches are not joking over this Edo election. We will not allow any individual or group to destroy the state or give it a bad name. It is unfortunate that many Nigerians are hypocrites. When they hear witches or read about witches, what comes to their mind is evil or darkness."

A Delta State University lecturer with an undisclosed name was caught naked and arrested in wembley hotel, located at Asaba trying to sleep with a student, Esther Omokinovo he has threatened to fail if she refused to his sexual proposal.
Two days after, during Mathematics examination the victim raced to the police station to inform detectives that she has agreed for a particular date for sex with the lecturer. The state Commissioner of police, Zanna Muhammed Ibrahim at the command headquarters in Asaba, on Saturday, August 6, said the lecturer was caught naked and ready to take on the student.

Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN) Allows Only These Operators For Money Transfers, Bans Others
Due to the new directive from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), most operators have been banned from sending money to Nigeria from other countries.
Only three companies – Western Union, MoneyGram and Ria – will be able to continue operations following the drastic decision by the CBN.
A leading online remittance provider, WorldRemit, in common with all other international MTOs, has been instructed by its local correspondents that transfers to Nigeria will no longer be processed and is, accordingly, suspending services immediately.
WorldRemit founder and CEO, Ismail Ahmed said:
"This move is arbitrary, inexplicable and hugely detrimental to the Nigerian diaspora who rely on hundreds of money transfer companies and banks, providing them with choice, convenience and competitive pricing.
Even now, as we suspend our service, there is no clarity on why this sudden change has happened. If it is on the basis of new rules, there was no warning. If it is a re-interpretation of old rules, local correspondent networks and banks should have been forewarned.
This reverses the progress made by the country when the Nigeria Central Bank banned Western Union’s exclusivity agreements that had created a near-monopolistic position in the international money transfer market. Western Union controlled 78% of the market share when CBN outlawed exclusivity agreements with local banks.
It looks like all systems in Nigeria are currently geared against encouraging new entrants and competition in the mobile remittance markets. That is worrying in the extreme."
Until now, money transfer operators operated via partnerships with licensed local correspondents in Nigeria, enabling transfer of funds to local bank accounts – providing a more efficient service than the SWIFT infrastructure.
Worthy to note also is a 2015 memorandum from the Central Bank of Nigeria, stating minimum requirements for companies offering international Mobile Money transfer services to Nigeria.
The guidelines specify that any company offering Mobile Money transfers must have minimum net assets of $1bn and have been operating for more than 10 years.
This will further crumble the services of most operators.
Nigeria Woman Sentenced To 22 Year In Prison For Girls Trafficking
Franca Asemota, 38 from Benin, Edo State, has been sentenced to 22 years imprisonment for human trafficking especially girls and women on Thursday at Heathrow Airport, UK.
She was found guilty of twelve counts of conspiracy charges of human trafficking.
at Isleworth Crown Court, United Kingdom on Wednesday.
Nigerian woman goes to jail for girls trafficking
Ms Asemota forced dozens of teenage orphans into prostitution and slavery using the threat of witchcraft. She used Heathrow as a hub to traffic at least 40 girls and young women into Europe from remote villages in Nigeria after promising them jobs, education and a better life.She was reported to be part of a criminal network that trafficked girls, boys and women from Nigeria to Europe using threats to guarantee their compliance.
She was later arrested in Nigeria, extradited to the UK for trial by the coordinated work of NCA and EFCC.
The head of the Immigration Enforcement crime team, David Fairclough, described Ms. Asemota as the “lynchpin of a trafficking ring which targeted vulnerable young women in Nigeria, promising them a brighter future working in Europe”.
Mr. Fairclough said it however became clear soon that what she claimed to be doing was far different, as the victims, some who were as young as 13, were told they would be sold into prostitution.

Brave Dubai firefighter buried
The burial ceremony of the brave firefighter ,Jassim Eissa Mohammed Hassan All Balochi of the airport civil defence who lost his life trying to rescue others at the just recent Emirate plane at Dubai International Airport took place today.He was buried today in Al Salehiya cemetery, Ras Al Khaimah. Shaikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah attended the funeral.
The General Civil Aviation Authority and crown Prince of Ra's Al Khaimah gave the condolences .
The General Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement yesterday,
"This Boeing 777 flight was carrying 282 passengers with 18 crew members on board. We are grateful to God for his mercy and confirm that there were no fatalities among the passengers and crew on board. We are however, very sad to announce that one of the firefighters lost his life while saving the lives of the others. On behalf of the General Civil Aviation Authority, I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to the family of deceased. I salute his ultimate sacrifice that kept many from harm's way. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family", said the director general of GCAA. He played an instrumental role in helping evacuate passengers safely. he is a martyr. We are trying our best to help his family," the statement added.

UNICAL Student Vomit Blood And Died After Night Out With Rich Man
A student of University of Calabar Nigeria, Adaeze Nnamani has died after spitting out blood profusely on Monday, August 1.
Adaeze a year 2 diploma student was reportedly dead when she went for a night out with an unknown rich man on Sunday.
One of her close friend said that she went to a party on Sunday evening and came back late the same night. She was reportedly dropped off by an unknown man driving an expensive “Monster Jeep” – who bought her lots of “goodies” which she was seen carrying when she returned from the party.
She fell sick the following day and started vomiting blood profusely. She drop dead before she could be rushed to the hospital.
Adaeze has been buried in her home town , Enugu State yesterday , August 3.
Friends and relatives have been showing their sympathy since the incident . Some are still shock she is going.

Man Masturbates Himself To Death In Front Of Laptop
Christopher Harrold, 26-year-old had reportedly pleasured himself and strangled himself to death after sexual excitement by restricting oxygen flow to the brain.
Neighbours of Christopher Harrold found him hanging in the corner of his bedroom after being absent for several days in Redland, Bristol, England.
According to police reports, a laptop and mobile phone was found near his body in his room.
Although no further details about his death were given a coroner believed that the young man didn’t plan to hurt or kill himself. Post mortem examination as well as the circumstances around the death pointed at auto-erotic asphixation as the cause of death.
Days before tragedy Mr Harrold moved into his new house which he shared with his three close friends and was in good spirits, according to his family. That’s why his neighbours noticed his absence only two days after his bizarre unintentional suicide. One more odd death was reported by foreign media about a 20-year-old woman who passed away minutes after kissing her boyfriend.

Lagos State University LASU Expelled Sixty-nine Students
69 students have been expelled by Lagos State University LASU for their alleged involvement in cultism, examination malpractices and other gross misconducts during examinations within the school premises.
This came barely four months after 25 students were suspended for various offences pending their appearances before the constituted panels. The document further stated that over 15 of the 69 students expelled were final year students of the institution.
This was contained in the Official Bulletin published by the Centre For Information, Press & Public Relations of The Vice Chancellor’s Office on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 and made available to Vanguard yesterday.
Of the 69 students expelled by the school management, 21 were involved in use of fake docket, a card containing the bio data of the student and the courses registered for the semester by the student.
RCCG Bible College Graduates About 5882 Students
The Redeemed Christian Bible College, (RCBC) graduated abouted 5,882 persons yesterday as part of manpower development programme of the fast growing Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, at the Redemption Camp of the church.
The students were awarded certificates in line with their course of study. Some graduated with masters, bachelors, advanced diploma, and diploma certificates.
The programme, which was the highpoint of activities of the third day of the convention, started as early as 8.00 a.m. when the graduands filed out for the ceremony, which was presided over by the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye and other senior officers of the institution. Congratulating and releasing fatherly blessing for the graduands, Pastor Adeboye prayed that God’s presence will go with the students and in line with the motto of the institute;
Christ Ambassadors, he said the graduands will become mighty ambassadors for Christ.
In his words: “We receive you all jointly into the diploma, certificate, degrees programmes of the Redeemed Christian Bible College and Redeemed International Academy in the name of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. You will not leave with ordinary certificates; God’s presence and power will go with you, God will use you to heal the sick, raise the dead, win the world for God. You will not fail God, will not fall by the way side and God will uphold you till the very end”.
Director/Principal of the Bible college, Pastor Babatunde Adedibu, in his speech, explained that various programmes in the school are designed to prepare Christians and Bible scholars for in-depth knowledge in specific areas of interest and calling.
He further hinted that various infrastructural development that will facilitate better and conducive learning environment are going on in the school, adding that with the dedication of the staff of the college, the school will not relax in producing quality students who will be Christ ambassadors wherever they find themselves.
Calling for more support from the church, Adedibu said: “It is evident that there are lots to be done. We are using this medium to appeal for support for the enormous work of God going on in the school and college. As we are moving on to the next phase of RCBC, join us and let us take the college to an enviable height.”
In his message to the graduands, entitled: “World Changers,” Pastor of Faith United Ministry, Pastor James Sturdivant, advised the latest graduates not to grow weary in being the ambassadors of Christ, adding that being world changers implies they have to impact the world positively by preaching the true word of God, be agents of change in their various calling and their testimonies should be like that of Paul and Silas.
Sturdivant further urged the graduates to live a life of uncompromising character, embrace holiness and have an unwavering commitment towards the work of the kingdom. He said: “As you are going out today, God is expecting you to make positive impact in the world where people are calling wrong right and right wrong. It is God’s mind that you fill the world with His glory. Preach the gospel anywhere you go, stand for Jesus, be His soldier, lift the name of Jesus higher because you are the light of the world”.

South African Pastor Dies While Trying To Fast For 40 Days Like Jesus Christ
Pastor dies after fasting for 30 days
South Africa- Alfred Ndlovu, 44 pastor has died after trying to imitate Jesus by fasting for 40 days in the wilderness.
According to sources, The late pastor reportedly died of malnutrition after making it to day 30 of the dry fasting.
The 44-year-old embarked on the spiritual journey on 17 June and just like Jesus, he left the things of the world behind and focused on God as he took to the bush to conduct prayers.
His death came as a shock to his family, church members and the community at large as he was largely known as a very spiritual person with a faith that could move mountains.
A close relative lamented:
He was a very spiritual man. Its unfortunate he had to die this way. After a month we got the sad news of his death. Pastor was a healthy and religious old man who did not even look his age.
However, the record breaker couldn’t live up to Jesus’ standard as he gave up the ghost after a month. There was no history of illness in his life and he was healthy as a horse when he left home.
His dead body was discovered by a stranger who alerted the police who then informed his family and congregation.

A South African named Mlungsi Mthetwa ,local taxi boss has set himself ablaze after finding out tha his wife gave birth to set of Chinese twin in Tembisa, Johannesburg.
According to MY RSA Updates ,An eye witnesses reveals that the two had a heated argument before the man resort to petrol and fire. “He had a big problem in his family, his second wife gave birth and brings home a set of Chinese twins, and they both don’t have Chinese genes in their respective families.
It is believed that the wife slept around with her ex Chinese bosses when she was working at a Chinese restaurant.
“Mthetwa is my long time friend, we have been neighbors since his family moved to South Africa from Malawi about 30 years ago, he wasn’t a violent person, this is all because of stress, I feel sorry for his school going kids who lost their father in such a way.
There was a better non violent solution to such a problem’” he said. Mlungisi’s first wife denied to the media but her face didn’t show any remorse which is a clear indication that the two were not in good books.
Sources close to the family revealed that Mlungisi was in the process of divorcing his first wife, who mothered his 3 children.
