Adam Johnson still on Trail
Sunderland star has pleaded guilty to two count charges and now faces a trial for a further two charges he denies. The winger could face more than two-years in prison after pleading guilty to two child sex offences involving a 15-year-old girl.
The 28-year-old changed his original plea and admitted the offences when he appeared at Bradford Crown Court on the first day of his trial.Johnson, who has 12 caps to his England career pleaded guilty to one count of grooming the teenager and also one count of kissing her in a sexual manner. Miss Flounders, who has a baby daughter with the footballer, vowed to stand by him. A jury trial will now take place regarding the other two charges which Johnson still denies which if found guilty, he could be jailed for maximum of 14-years. Johnson was arrested March last year and was initially suspended by Sunderland, but was reinstated to the side a couple of weeks later. Johnson who was regarded as one of England’s brightest stars started his professional career with Middlesbrough, moved to Manchester City in 2012, and then moved to Sunderland – his home town club – in a £10 million transfer in the summer of 2012. He scored a free kick in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool last week.
