Super Eagles’ goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu, has charged the players to work hard to excel good in this week’s international friendly tie against Uganda and South Africa, saying their performance in the games would be used to pick those worthy of inclusion in the national team’s main squad.
Shorunmu told The Guardian yesterday that the key objective of the friendlies was to give every Nigerian player the opportunity to showcase his talent, as well as help the coaches to prepare the team for the Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers.He disclosed that all the players invited for the Wednesday “The Eagles will start arriving camp today because most of the players invited for the friendly played for their various teams on Sunday. That is why they are not in town yet. If we have a large number of players on Monday evening, training will take place. By Tuesday morning, I believe all the players will be available in training. I will advise the invited players to use the tie to launch themselves into the main Super Eagles team,” he said.
