Abnormalities in two out of Triplet Born
Catalina, Ximena and Scarlett, three sisters with two bodies, were born a few days earlier by cesarean-section, weighing 2kg each.
Now the girls are in a surgery unit, where they undergo several medical tests. According to doctors, the babies conjoined at the pelvis will have to wait six months to a year before they can be separated. Parents Silvia Hernandez and Raul Torres don’t hide that the pregnancy was difficult for both of them, especially when they learned that there would be three children instead of planned one, besides two of them were conjoined. As father Raul had to leave his job to care for his wife and their older son, now they hope kind people will help to deal with their medical bills. Revealing her feelings to journalists Silvia said: “The truth is I cried, not because of how the babies would look because we knew we would do our best to give them the best and most productive life possible, I cried because the doctor said we had to understand and accept the fact that once they were born they could die.”
Nevertheless the couple is ready to fight for their children’s health: “It’s like a gift of God. God chose us for a reason, to take care of them. He sent us little angels for a reason, so it’s a big blessing for us.” Mother and babies will have to stay in a local hospital for a few months, but all three seem to be perfectly healthy at this time.
