Jamaica beauty shakira martin dies after long battle with sickle cell

Former Miss Jamaica Universe, Shakira Martin,30 is dead. She died after suffering from sickle cell anaemia since birth on Wednesday August 3.

 Memorial Hospital West in Miami where she was pronounced dead reported that she had Pines from blood clots on both lungs and complications of sickle cell anemia.

                                               

According to Jamaican Observer, the 30 year old beauty queen was confirmed dead by her mother, Andrea Hall via social media.

 “My darling princess Shakira Aminah passed away at 12:28am from complications from sickle cell blood clots to both lungs. Shakira was a fighter, lived her life in the moment, never became a slave to her disease. I will [keep] you posted with all the arrangements which will be both in Florida and Jamaica her favorite place in the whole world. Thanks for your support, prayers, phone calls, texts." She said.


A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise funds to cover the final expenses of Miss Jamaica Universe 2011, Shakira Martin.
