US women team to compete in relay race final after appealing to IAAF

The team made an appeal to the governing body IAAF arguing that other runners made them drop their baton and they were given a second shot to make the final, and they made the most of it.
In order to make the final, IAAF set up a special race for US team on Thursday night. The relay race was to beat the time of 42.70 seconds that was run by China's team.
They did that, posting a 41.77 time. The team —Tianna Bartoletta, Allyson Felix, English Gardner, and Morolake Akinosun — now advances to Friday night's final at 9:15 p.m. ET.
