In Florida a 33-year-old woman named Jessica Wright mistakenly shot her grandmother Carolyn Wright, 52, in her Tampa-area home in Florida US.
According to to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office the death of the granny was thought to be accidental shooting.
Police said that Carolyn Wright was fatally shot by her daughter early Friday with a gun her grandchild brought home.
A teen who lives at the Town 'n' Country house where four generations of the family resided came home with the gun, deputies said. The teen’s mother, identified by the Tampa Bay Times as 33-year-old Jessica Wright, found the gun and took it away, according to investigators.
She took the bullets out of the weapon and thought she had emptied out all the ammo, officials in the sheriff’s office said. Yet the gun still had one round in the chamber, and the younger Wright accidentally fired it and hit her mother in the upper body, according to deputies.
An emergency crew who rushed to the Pinehurst Circle home just after midnight Friday pronounced Carolyn Wright dead.
According to NYDAILYNEWSThe great-grandmother, two of Jessica Wright’s brothers and four children aged 8, 13, 15 and 17 years old were also home at the time of the shooting, deputies told WTVT-TV.Family members could be seen breaking down into tears as they walked in and out of the home Friday.
